Zollamt at Berlin is useless and inefficient... and steals your passwords (but they don't know that)
The all purpose of the post is to receive your shipping at home and fast. But in Germany, you will have to pick up your packages at the Zollamt for all international shipping! And first you will have to wait 10 days to finally receive a notice at home.
Of course when you arrive you will wait at least half an hour. During this time you can perhaps have some fun, it's feel like a movie about DDR.

When you arrive you certainly forget to print the rechnung hopefully you have a computer at your disposition to go on your email and print it out.
The small problem is the computer is totally unsafe! It's a XP box with expired antivirus and a normal user session. You have the choice between IE6 and Firefox. On Firefox lastpast is installed.
Basically this extension send all the password online on the owner of the last past account. Great!!!! EDIT: how say in comment #3, by default the extension ask the user before saving a password. But it will be easy to modify the extension to remove this security.
First reaction when you told the guy you don't accept to log in your paypall account here? "This is eine comptuer of the state, is totally secure and have a firewall! We lock USB so how do you want poeples install anythings!"... Apparently they still don't understand what Internet is about.
I become slowly use to the paper work and heavy procedure here. But it's definitely time for an update of the German administration.

I am having an issue with a package sent from the US to Germany, apparently this same exact problem, and I'm worried.
The package has said that it's been held since August 23rd. It was sent to Landau. Here we are, September 8th, and she has not received notification of the package.
Is there anything she can do to get the package? Can she go to the zoll without notification (there is one in Landau) and get it?

So apparently you can contact the Zoll FAQ: Overdue and delayed parcels.
An other interesting article (for the next parcel) is What points should the seller pay attention to so as to enable customs clearance to be handled speedily and smoothly? .
"When dispatching the consignment, the consignor should provide the post or the courier/express service with all necessary particulars relating to the goods and ensure that the consignment is accompanied by all the necessary documents.
In particular, the product should be described in sufficient detail to enable it to be classified with the correct customs tariff. If available, the customs tariff number is very helpful in this context. Generalized statements such as "computer parts" etc. are not sufficient as a description.
The consignment should, in particular, also be accompanied by the invoice - in duplicate - or other documents that provide information on the price agreed for the purchase (e.g. invoice, contract, auction record)."

Just for your information, last pass doesn't save any password unless you click save button.

Thank to pointing that is not the fault of lastPass.
By default it doesn't save password automatically, but you can hack the extension so it save without prompting. Same with Firefox http://superuser.com/questions/73444/firefox-remember-new-passwords-with... .
The point are:
- if you can install whatever on the machine... this machine is *really* unsafe.
- Zollamt should not exist at the first place!
